LBM Journal, the leading national trade magazine covering the lumber and building materials industry, selected our own Alan Walters as one of the publication’s inaugural “40 Under 40” inductees.
According to the magazine, the purpose of this honor is to recognize and celebrate the growing class of strong young leaders in the U.S. LBM industry, and to nurture and learn from them.
As the Journal put it, “To be clear, the inaugural class of the LBM ‘40 Under 40’ have paid their dues and put in the work. They are already leaders in their companies and communities, and they are driving our industry forward today. They’re living, breathing proof that the LBM industry represents an incredible opportunity for young talent to build a rewarding career doing important work.”
This year’s inductees have been invited to attend the publication’s annual LBM Strategies Conference this fall to be recognized and to meet with other LBM leaders from across the U.S. Several of them will take the stage, sharing their insights on attracting other young talent.
Each inductee of the premier class of LBM Journal’s “40 Under 40” was asked, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Alan’s answer hints of our future plans. He said, “Miller Lumber owns property adjacent to our current facility where we look forward to growing our business. We plan to use this area to expand our carrying capacity, minimize loss, and provide a better customer experience by building additional sheds, increasing space for shipping and receiving, and providing a more ergonomic flow for both our customers and employees in the yard.”
Next year’s LBM Journal “40 Under 40” will honor 40 new members; significantly, the judging will be done by Alan and his 2023 “40 Under 40” peers. Congratulations, Alan, from the Miller Lumber team!
